After a full 24 hours without sleep, two stop-overs, a long airport wait and some dodgy taxis - I have made it. Got into the hotel room at some 2am local time, about 6am NZ time.
Today has been recce for us around the countryside.
It is hard to describe... Mainly the whole area is full of these roads through the palm plantation. I don't think I'm grasping the full-ness of being here yet, but that could be the jet-lag. It's really surreal, but at the same time, we're not that far from home. What I mean is, the driving is the same, the road rules are the same, most local people (that I've talked to) speak enough English to get them by and wherever you travel with a rally - you see the same people!
So it's much like home for me, apart from the language, place and culture. Well, anyone that knows me, knows that home is where the motorsport is.
